About me...

Born and raised in a small town, Ashley Dumonchelle (1987) was never very exposed to the world of art. She was raised in a very non-artistic family in a school system that wasn’t exactly supportive. Despite all this however, and thanks to an artistic babysitter, she grew up drawing on whatever she could get her hands on, even carving a lovely landscape into the hood of her mom’s car with a rock. She started drawing portraits in middle school, and continued honing this skill until she was accepted into the Maryland Institute if Art in 2005. It took a successful portfolio review from MICA staff, and a nudge in the right direction, but she quickly fell happily into the pursuit of a career in illustration, and graduated with a BFA in illustration in May 2009.
I complete a majority of my work in pencil and colorize/paint digitally, with a few of my own hand made textures and ink washes for added flair.
